Freigut Thallern Associated with the monastery Heiligenkreuz, Thallern - the second oldest vineyard of Austria - recently experienced a significant revitalization, including our unique Packaging Design. The estate is in service of high viniculture since the year 1141 and is now being revived by Willibald Balanjuk, together with the three viniculturists Erich Polz, Karl Alphart and Leo Aumann.
Vinifying an old variety of grapes, the Burgundian philosophy is newly implemented in Austria's thermal region. Our Packaging Design follows the concept of connecting ancient tradition with modernity: inspired by the medieval banderole, the quadripartite label embraces the wine bottle with to one another displaced narrow stripes. Usually, such an interruption is technically not feasible and was only achieved by intervening into the manufacturing of the labelling process. The Gothic type used on the label refers to the archaic tradition of the wine estate and was calligraphically developed with goose quill and Chinese ink.
